I'm a big fan of Sarah Vaughn's work and this graphic novel series is off to a wonderful start. The artwork is stellar, rich in color and detail with kind of a bold color palette. The premise and plot of the story itself is familiar but unique as well. A princess in peril trying to navigate the dangers that can be had in the court while the new king settles in to his reign. Then there's the ever-growing affection between Poppy (Lady Pyppenia) and her sleepless knight. Lady Pyppenia is a real treat to read. She's considered a princess in her home land but as the illegatimate daughter of the King here in the land of Harbeny, she's caught between being too noble to freely mingle with the commoners and not royal enough to do as she would wish in the court. Her personal guard, Cyrenic, sees it all play out from the role of a servant who never sleeps. I can tell he's already a character where we'll see a lot of deep truths and secrets about. Last but not least you have more than your share of villain to love to hate. When someone makes an attempt on Poppy's life, she and Cyrenic most work together to see who is behind it. I can't wait for Volume 2!

I just want to say to the creators thank you so much for making such a beautiful story featuring these characters of color. Image Comics represents such a talented pool of artists and authors. I hope the team continues to make them because I will buy every single issue of this deeply romantic comic with GORGEOUS art. So when is volume 2 coming out????? I already can't wait!

The artwork is unique and kind to portraying its characters. The colors are mood setting and nice to look at.The wording seems simple, but has explained a Lot of the magical workings of the world and the rules and backgrounds of all characters.Its twisting, like Game of Thrones, and yet included things like acne and PTSD. Fun!Cant wait to read more!

I knew when I saw the art that I had to have this collection, and I was even more hooked by the premise. I love the combo of politics with a hint of romance, and I can't wait for vol 2!

Such a beautiful series! If you like romance, court intrigue, and mystery in a Renaissance-esque setting, check this graphic novel out. Gorgeous illustrations too. I bought one for myself, and one for my sister as a gift...and she loves it!

First off if you enjoyed the CW show Reign, you'll love this. Loved the art and story, Im a sucker for medieval/fantasy worlds and this has satisfied me, I already see character development in the works and a great cliffhanger. Can't wait for Vol 2.

This graphic novel takes the elements of the renaissance and uses them to build this wonderful world. With varying views on the world and the systems that control it. The diversity of the cast is also amazing. Would definitely recommend it to everyone!

I feel sympathetic to Mr Gupta as he comes across as a nice and gentle person, however his story is beyond belief. He states innocence, however not only in the original trial but rather also in the appeal against his conviction in court of appeals rejected the arguments, He spends much of the book in giving up the defense, however same defense was found not sufficient by us court of appeals. I feel this is an attempt at revising history to reclaim some reputation. Mr Gupta would have found much more sympathy if he would have accepted his mistakes and have told truthfully all the mistakes that he did may be history would have been less harsh on him that way. Still a sad story nonetheless,.

The book is an exercise in fantasy for the author.

Rajat Gupta convinced me of his integrity and honesty. He is a victim of a witch-hunt. The irony is that his great wealth added to his vulnerability. The author reveals the basic dishonest of prosecutors who pander to populist rage and bitterness. The reader should be enraged---and fearful. But will this be the case? I am doubtful. Read this book and weep. Highly recommended. In contrast to stand-up guy Raj Rajaratnam (i.e. not a rat), Mr. Gupta is a complete and utter phony. As the Vanity Fair article confirms, "Gupta's book shows an alarming lack of regret, an alacrity for finger-pointing, and a stubborn refusal to take responsibility." Don't believe a single word that he says about ANYTHING. Every ex-con has good intentions about helping those he left behind, but really the primary goal is simply to get your life together because you're trying to come back from the dead. Listen, this Gupta Guy ran like a cheetah to get the information in a timely manner on many occasions, not just the GS investment. He wanted to get rich above all else, so he tried to ride The Man's coattails and burned his own ass in the process. It's hard to imagine, but every sentence on every page is a lie. How could someone be so self-unaware and delusional? I can't explain it other than he pretended he was a tough guy at Camp Cupcake who shared a cubicle with "a large, muscular white guy with a shaved head and tattoos on every visible area of skin" yet "professes to remember his time in prison quite fondly." WTF? My first cellie murdered a snitch, had a long knife, and I'm pretty sure I wet my bed that first night. Prison is not a "fond" thing, and if this guy did time in a real joint, he would have been a fondled thing. This dude is clearly manufacturing a narrative as he glides through life with his McKinsey persona still intact. Mr. Gupta, you ruined your life, so get over it and wear your scarlet letter with pride.

I was nervous about receiving this book that it would be the same message I've been reading in some other Christian books. "Slow down, say no to things to say yes to better." And while this book has that same message, the author's style of memoir writing and keeping the theme present throughout the book was anything but cliche. Unlike similar books, I feel like she nails the heart of discontent and really makes you feel like you're a part of her journey. I'm walking away with a lot to reflect on, some practical tools to simplify, and most importantly a reminder to evaluate why I always have the longing for more.

I seriously love this book!! I first bought it on Audible and loved it so much I purchased the physical book. It is exactly the message you need to hear if you want to simplify your life. I was in a dead end job that was draining my soul and buried under all the responsibilities that I had placed on myself. This book is helping me to step out from under all of this and think about how I can create a life I love. It is not a step by step how to book, it is inspirational and helps to get your mind spinning with all of the possibilities. My favorite book in years! It doesn't hurt that the book is also beautifully done. If you get the audible as well, it is well narrated and I have listened to it several times in my car.

I read every book cover to cover...this book was depressing, redundant, and not what i hoped for. needless to say, i stopped reading by the very end. i hoped she would discuss minimalism more. i understand its an autobiography of sorts, it just didn't do it for me.

Although the author shares some poignant moments and has some insights into the value of a slower life, the overall flow of the book was disjointed.

Mediocre book. Very difficult to stay interested through most of the book. Skimmed most of it because I had bought it. Last 5 pages are only worth reading. Bummer!

I've been reading Erin's blog for awhile and always return when I need a deep breathe or a new perspective. Erin's writing is a way to slow down and reset the pace. I read this book on vacation with my family and love the way it gave me breathing room while surrounded by busyness!

I found the sample interesting, but wish I hadn't bought it. The story bounced around from being an adult to a young teen to college. It was confusing and suddenly uninteresting.

I started this hoping it would be a journey of doing more with less. It's not. It's a hypocritical sound byte. It looks pretty on the surface, but there's no substance. The author has a (rather haphazard) metaphor involving lions and being chased, or chasing them, or running with them, and it's annoying (as a metaphor). T he part that annoyed me most was when a friend pointed out her food idolatry, and she acknowledged it, BUT didn't change! She purports to be a 'Christian ' and is told "hey, you've got this other God taking first place" and there's the hypocrisy. All style, no substance, no meaningful change.
