A wonderful insight into MCM Detroitand it’s contribution to design in the mid 20th century.

Library book. No purchase. Very nice book on Alexander Gerard, from an architectural standpoint. We live near Zeeland, MI, and love midcentury homes, furniture, etc., so this book was right up our alley. We did see a textile show of his in Saugatuck last year sponsored by Herman Miller. Good. Was unaware of his architectural chops. He is probably best known for his furniture and his textiles, for good reason. Home designs were nice and very cutting edge in their time period. Liked the book. Learned new things. Printed in USA. Also Detroit theme, so what's not to like?

Comics is super cool, but the book came a bit damaged!

Love this book :D Made my laugh and can relate in so many ways.

Full disclaimer: I'm a Kickstarter backer for this book, so my version includes a couple of extras. I will not be talking about them here, only discussing the content present in every copy of the book.Cassandra Calin (usually known as C. Cassandra) is a webcomics artist I found years ago in CollegeHumor but I've followed her since then on her own platforms. Her comics are fun and relatable takes on everyday life. They speak from her own experience, so occasionally they're focused on more personal things (such as her gender, size or career), but they can still easily be enjoyed by people from all walks of life, like Sarah Andersen's work.When she revealed her Kickstarter campaign for this book release, I jumped at the chance. I got a limited signed copy with a bunch of extras, but the basic book is the same for everyone: hardcover and kinda massive for a book of this kind. Generally, compilations of webcomics are a bit smaller (I put a picture to compare with a few different ones), though the size of this one can be attributed to the detail of the art and the fact that it doesn't just have a few comics, it also includes exclusive art and "making of" features.Cassandra's art is easily recognizable, specially for her amazing ability to draw hair. This book shows how her range goes from simplistic and silly to gorgeous works of art that anyone would love to hang in their living room. The comics themselves are focused on humor, with a half-realistic/half-cartoony art style. Despite that, there's a lot of detail in many of them. It's very obvious that Cassandra really enjoys drawing and you can see how her art has evolved throughout the years.I fully recommend the book. I also recommend you follow Cassandra's work in social media. She's a really good artist and deserves the support and encouragement.

Ugh. I love Calin’s comics. Her drawings are fantastic, her humor is spot on, what’s there not to like? I found her on tumblr after having seen some of her comics randomly all over the place. When she did the Kickstarter for her book I just had to buy into it. And it was well-worth it. If you’re real human being, especially a real woman, just trying to exist in this world that wants everything from us and you feel like you fall short, try to get your hands on STILL JUST KIDDING. At the very least follow Calin on tumblr. Everything she puts out is amazing and hits right in the home button.5

I bought this book directly from the artist when they had a Kickstarter to fund its making. I love it, great art, and relatable stories.

Michael Croley was born in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
