I bought this book on the recommendation of one of the parties being written about.It is the story of how one man did something for all the right reasons and in the end learns No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.If you are considering going forward with a qui tam, this book is a must read so that you are fully informed.If you are a prosecutor, qui tam attorney or law enforcement that deal with qui tams, please read this book. It reminds you of the impact these acts have on the relator and more importantly, their family.My only ctiticism is that some parts of the story are very repetitive.

This book starts out slow but it gets better as the chapters move on. It contains some pretty amazing and unbelievable narrative. I give Mr. Holzrichter credit for doing the right thing, even though his life has changed considerably as a result of whistleblowing. As I read the book, I kept wondering if I would possess the courage to do what Holzricher did. All in all, a good read.

He is a personal friend. I knew he went through much, but the full depth of his ordeal was unknown by me. Now I know.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Chicagoland Fraud Conference and met Jim Holzrichter and his wife, Mary. What an amazing and inspiring couple. I was unaware of the extent of his story. I devoured the book and the whole time just kept shaking my head. Such immense strength and integrity. I can't believe what he and his family went through. All I can think about is how so many people would never have done what Jim did. I consider myself extremely lucky and fortunate to have spent time with Jim and Mary. They are true American heroes. Thank you Jim for not only being a whistleblower but writing about your experience.

A very timely story, given recent "whistle blowers". Employees who observe "problems" need to be careful when confronting their employeers -- perhaps, with a lawyer in attendance. I wonder if this would have exploded in the way described if he had protected himself. An interesting read

This was a great education in the overwhelming journey of the whistleblower. It makes you really feel for what this familywent through.

This is more than a condensed version of The Case for Mars, and contains an insightful critique of shortcomings at NASA. I've been "on board' with Dr. Zubrin's approach of a somewhat minimalist journey to Mars, coupled with a year and half stay as a precursor to building a continuous human presence on the Red Planet. His description and comments regarding the Mars sample return mission proposed by NASA are incisive, and point out the dangers associated with allowing a bureaucratic approach to space exploration. The complicated and very expensive mission panders to all the different groups within the space agency, and is highly reminiscent of the ill-fated GHW Bush "90 day plan," for a human mission to Mars.This is a very useful book when discussing travel to Mars. I gave it 5 stars, only because there wasn't a 6 star rating possible.

Zubrin doesn't fetish around with exaggerated, over-the-top-costly manned missions of the sorts that'lleasily be rejected by any economically driven, realistic business man or bureaucrat. Zubrin introduces acost-effective, direct approach which NASA could've committed themselves to in the 1980's. Too bad itnever turned out that way. Zubrin went off to found The Mars Society, and Mars Direct Plan was exiled tothe shelves where many other great ideas had been filed.This book is a recommendation to anyone who's been fooled into believing a Mars journey and settlementhave to be insanely expensive and profoundly complicated. Read it!

I thought this would be an edited-down pocket version of The Case for Mars, but it is not! of course it contains some of the same information, but also new stuff, written more recently... including some scathing indictments about "Apollo Mode vs. Shuttle Mode thinking" that won't make Zubrin any more friends at NASA. But sadly, he happens to be right. There's also an intriguing glimpse into Zubrin's meetings with Elon Musk and one possible scenario for how SpaceX might facilitate Mars exploration and (later on) settlement. That scenario works whether SpaceX serves as a NASA subcontractor or whether SpaceX does it independently with basic NASA cooperation (there's no substitute for the Deep Space Network, for instance). Definitely worth a read.If you already own The Case for Mars, this little book helps to update that case (to 2013 anyway). If you're new to Zubrin's thinking, this little book is a great place to begin.

I completely disagree with the review that said this is merely a condensed version of Robert's classic book, "Case For Mars". On the contrary, it shows that Robert can still weave his magic without merely rehashing old topics. True, the first of four parts of this book does summarize the Mars Direct Plan, but the rest is completely new material, material that would fit nicely into an updated Case For Mars edition.A few examples of the new material in this book covered with perfect Zubrin flair:-> How concerns for human safety have mired NASA, and how they compare with a rational, engineering risk analysis.-> An augmented plan, dubbed "Mars Indirect", showing how we could get to Mars using existing crafts from the SpaceX corporation.-> How the latest political onslaught has killed off the last bits of NASA in the recent 2010-2012 time frame.I think the timing was perfect for this publication to counter Buzz Aldrin's proposals, which make some interesting points, but seem hopelessly naive in their desire to work from within current politics.Warning - what is revealed about what the Obama administration has done to the remaining functional projects at NASA will infuriate you. It saddens me that we as a country have no issue launching a protest to save the Internet against SOPA, yet we won't do something similar to protect the 1% of NASA's budget that actually gets results.P. S. Amazon, Robert, PLEASE create a Kindle version of "Entering Space" - I view this as your best work, and it's my favorite book.

I like how Zubrin has hope for the future. I think we should have already gone to Mars. By not going we are saying we are scared to try. America never backs down from a challenge. At least not when we have good, sane leadership. Maybe we'll get lucky and get another Kennedy type who takes us to Mars and uses Zubrin's plan. Anyone who thinks we shouldn't is not worth listening to. We would learn so much from it and inspire ten times more innovation. We might even find some really important minerals on Mars that will further humanity. Let's do it no more excuses.

I enjoyed the optimism despite every reason to resent the masive failures sufferer due to the lack of leadership in the once great NASA. It is clear that we have to step up and take this vital challenge upon ourselves. We cannot wait, dependant on ANY government as the window for great governments is closed shut. We as scientists, inventors and humans :) have to learn to look inwards to achieve this great goal. Looking at governments wil postpone indefinitely, fact. Thank you for the great booklet, I look forward to an update.

During all the recent talk of asteroid missions, L2 stations in lunar space and such, Zubrin makes a great case once again for setting our sights directly on Mars. The technologies exist right now. There's no need for multi-decade delays awaiting better rockets. The Spacex Falcon-9 Heavy may be enough to get us there. A great read which gave me renewed hope that I might see human flights to Mars in my lifetime. This is an excellent read if you really care about a bright future for human space flight.

This very short book presents the best case I've read thus far regarding how and why we should go to Mars now. I far preferred it to the collection of short papers by a number of authors (including Zubrin) "Colonizing Mars-The Human Mission to the Red Planet" and I look forward to reading another of Zubrin's books "The Case for Mars", which I recently obtained directly from the author while at the National Space Society's 2013 annual conference.

UPDATED (1/27). People didn't like my review, so I went back and realized I was a bit overbearing. I still think the book is horrible - remember this is a review of the BOOK, and not the military or the man. That being said, Chris Kyle and his ghost writers did a good job of targeting an audience and selling his story. Not a big deal. Still, the book is just not what I would have expected. It is full of cliches and trite military euphemisms and a bit of over indulgence of killing. Unfortunately, Chris comes across as a rather dimwitted Texan, and that makes me unhappy. I've read other books about war and this one is just different. Chris focuses on his equipment and placement and fellow SEALS more than he focuses on the effects of war. I was hoping for a bit of the latter but it seems he simply avoided it, instead he took pleasure in his accounts of the people he killed. I suppose the book could be entertaining to some, or a wonderful account of one man's struggle in war, but, I didn't get that. Chris' attitude was just to trigger happy.I was diagnosed with PTSD; I have unbearable anxiety at times; I struggle in relationships, yadda yadda. I feel like this book exposes a similar affliction in Chris. War is no joke, but unfortunately we can't get enough of it.The snipers I've met, and served with, weren't as violent and idealistic as Chris. Neither was, or am, I, and I was infantry. I think this book serves a purpose, though: it should give an idea of what the modern soldier endures during a military occupation. I'm sorry for Chris' loss; I've endured the loss of soldiers myself and I still struggle to come to terms with my service and the loss of fellow soldiers. Maybe I'm a bit more sensitive than the average soldier; perhaps I see things differently. I don't know. I did my time, and enjoyed it as much as the next guy, but I think I'm just over the war and what it did. I've moved on to graduate school and while I still contemplate my role in society as a guy with a very rare form of experience, I get very upset when I see people revere guys like Chris as heroes, paying no mind to the war as a whole. I think we've romanticized war and the soldier and it's difficult for us to face the actual effects of combat. I'm grateful for my fellow soldiers and their service, but I think we need to calm down with the whole warrior mindset.I recommend this book because it has a purpose. I also recommend you read WAR, by sebastian Unger, The Things They Carried, Slaughterhouse 5, Catch 22, Jarhead. Don't let THIS book

Excellent perspective from one who served. Seldom do I condemn other reviewers in their stance, but this is the rare exception. To all those who thought or think this is American propaganda, then you either did not read the book, or your mind was made up before you started or you have not read any other memoirs from any other conflicts in the world.This is the insight of a man who was on the ground and answered the call of his country and performed to exemplary levels of honor, bravery and comradeship. You will find the same type of writing in â€œLast Dead Heroâ€- Robert Lamon, â€œBlood Red Snowâ€- Gunther K. Koschorrek, â€œThe Forgotten Soldierâ€ Guy Sajer â€œPattonâ€ Ladislas Farago and a host of others. These men fought for their country and sought to defeat and destroy the enemy. Plain and simple, waris about killing people to win. Itâ€™s not a walk in the park and handled through diplomacy where everyone holds hands and smiles. War is ugly, destructive and dehumanizing. Ask the Russians how many they lost during World War Two. Ask the British if they had, as Neville Chamberlain proclaimed, â€œPeace in our time.â€ You win by killing your enemy!Chris gives the reader a frontline look at how the battle in Iraq was fought. Does he come across as inhumane? Perhaps. But as a sniper, his job isnâ€™t to sit back and observe, itâ€™s to protect his fellow soldiers in harms way. And he does this by killing the enemy.I have talked, not interviewed, many men who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan. The common thread all of these men and women hold is, they are fighting for the man/woman by their side. Politics and grand strategies are the farthest thing from their minds. Protecting their fellow soldiers is front and foremost.His insight to his commanders is a common theme youâ€™ll find in most biographies-incompetent. His description of one of these, â€œ0% casualties, 100% effectiveness.â€ galled him. How do you go out in the field to ambush or become a target for your foe and not expect to incur casualties? Iâ€™m sure those were the words Eisenhower, Bradley, Montgomery, Patton, Truscott, Roosevelt, King, Schwarzkopf and Franks told their men as they were going into the fray. No!The other side of this tribute is his family life. Was it all rose gardens and happy-go-lucky? Far from it. His wife Taya had her own battles to fight. She was responsible for raising their two children while he was off fighting. Her insights to their fiery, troubled relationship are well timed and placed through this work. She does not hold back how much she despises the military but also understands that her husband is bound and determined to keep the bad guys from coming to the states and making sure he does everything in his ability to make that happen. For her, it is a Catch-22. She loves her husband and is proud of his service, but sooner or later, heâ€™s going to have to make family number two on the list. When Chris realizes that heâ€™s not immortal during his last deployment and reenlistment is coming up, he will have to decide if he wants to continue his service which could result in him losing his family. He chooses the later. This alone is an excellent testament of two people not taking the easy road. They overcame their differences and remembered why they fell in love in the first place.I recommend this warriorâ€™s story to anyone who wants a glimpse into the day to day life of a man who is dedicated to his God, Country and Family.

Really great book â€“ I have a couple points, but first I served in Iraq in 08-09 as a gunner as a member of a combat MP team; being said, I have the utmost respect for snipers because of their overwatch capabilities. I mean, they all deserve a high five for keeping us ground pounders save over there. As for the book, I like it because Kyle writes in spoken word, not a verbage packed authoring kinda thing. He writes and talks like a SEAL. Itâ€™s well written, I enjoyed the tidbits form Taya â€“ reminds me of when I describe my deployment and then my wife cuts in too. Very genuine book. As a soldier, I gotta pick on other branches as a requirement. Kyle calls SEALs silent professionals, I understand what heâ€™s saying, but he can get kinda obnoxious and narsasstic sometimes, im not gigginâ€™ the guy though, heâ€™s a frigginâ€™ SEAL, a horse of another color and im sure if I went through BUD/S and came out the other end, Iâ€™d be a cocky bad-a%% too! Anyway, God bless Kyle and his family, rest in peace brother, you earned eternity of it in heaven â€“ thanks for you and all your brethren who watched our six, even when we didnâ€™t know you guys were there.
