I like it because it is about my home state. Was disappointed that most of the pictures seem to be from the western part of the state. Can't change that now, as the author is long dead.

My husband and I were vacationing in Spruce Pine, NC and talked to the owner of the Spruce Pine Gem mine. His gradfather is featured in this book making his brooms. A lot of history and culture is in this book. It was great to see that some of these dieing arts were captured.
I purchased it for my grandson who was born in NC but now lives in CoHe was very happy with it
Wonderful book. My grandfather is in this book so it has sentimental meaning for me as well. This book is out of print,so if you can find a copy snatch it up!
